Sound that goes
where products cannot.
SonNext delivers non-thermal, micro-focused acoustic energy into the skin — stimulating collagen, activating circulation, and driving actives to depths that surface application will never reach. No heat. No trauma. No downtime.
Acoustic energy is not
about force.
It is about frequency.
Ultrasound has been used in medicine for decades — in diagnostics, physiotherapy, and surgical applications. What has changed is the precision with which it can now be applied at the aesthetic skin level: micro-focused, non-thermal, and calibrated to produce specific biological responses without any of the side effects associated with heat-based treatments.
SonNext is the ultrasound platform we use at Roses & More — selected not because of brand reputation, but because of clinical performance. It delivers consistent, controllable acoustic energy at therapeutic depth, with a software suite that evolves as new protocols are published. Our approach to technology is always brand-agnostic and outcome-first.
What ultrasound does, no topical product can replicate — and no other non-invasive technology does in quite the same way.
Four things ultrasound
does in the skin.
Each mechanism is distinct — and together they produce an effect that is genuinely multidimensional, addressing hydration, structure, circulation, and cellular renewal simultaneously.
Ultrasound waves create oscillating pressure zones in the fluid between cells, forming and collapsing microscopic bubbles — a process called cavitation. This temporarily disrupts the lipid bilayer of the stratum corneum, creating transient micro-channels that allow active ingredients to penetrate dramatically deeper than any surface application. The channels close within minutes; the actives remain.
The oscillating mechanical energy of ultrasound acts on fibroblasts — the cells responsible for producing collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the dermis. This mechanical stimulus triggers upregulation of these structural proteins, supporting skin firmness, elasticity, and volume in a way that is biologically driven rather than chemically induced. Results develop over weeks as the new matrix is laid down.
Acoustic streaming refers to the directional movement of fluid induced by ultrasound waves in tissue. This movement activates microcirculation, supports lymphatic flow, and improves the delivery of nutrients to and removal of metabolic waste from skin cells. The visible result is improved skin clarity and reduction of puffiness — without any manual manipulation of the tissue.
SonNext operates in the non-thermal ultrasound range — meaning the energy it delivers does not generate heat in the tissue. This is the critical distinction from high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) devices, which work through thermal injury to stimulate collagen. Non-thermal ultrasound achieves its biological effects through acoustic mechanics alone — making it safe for all skin types, including sensitive, reactive, and post-procedure skin, with no recovery time required.
"The difference between ultrasound and a good serum is not the ingredient — it is the depth. Acoustic cavitation delivers actives to the dermis. No amount of surface application achieves that."
Not all ultrasound
is the same.
HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) and non-thermal ultrasound are frequently conflated — but they work through entirely different mechanisms and suit very different skin profiles and goals.
- Generates heat in targeted tissue to stimulate collagen via wound response
- Significant discomfort during treatment — often requires topical anaesthetic
- Not suitable for sensitive, reactive, or inflamed skin
- Downtime: redness, swelling, and tenderness for days
- Results take months to develop as thermal damage resolves
- Risk of uneven delivery or burns if calibrated incorrectly
- Not appropriate for all skin tones
- Acoustic cavitation, mechanical stimulation, and streaming — zero thermal effect
- Comfortable throughout — no anaesthetic required
- Safe for sensitive, reactive, post-procedure, and all skin tones
- No downtime — skin is normal immediately after treatment
- Results begin from the first session; structural improvement builds over weeks
- Consistent, controllable delivery — same result across the full treatment area
- Suitable as a standalone treatment or as preparation / follow-up to other modalities
"We chose non-thermal ultrasound specifically because it works for every client — not just those whose skin can tolerate heat. That matters in a brand that builds long-term relationships with its clients."
What happens during
an ultrasound session.
Understanding the process helps clients understand why the results feel different — and why what is happening beneath the surface during a session is more significant than what is visible on the skin.
The skin is cleansed and assessed. Active serums or ampoules are selected based on the session goal — hydration, collagen support, brightening, or post-treatment recovery — because ultrasound's primary superpower is what it delivers, not just its acoustic effect alone.
The transducer head is moved across the skin in mapped strokes, generating micro-channels via cavitation. Actives are simultaneously driven through these channels to the dermis — achieving penetration depths up to ten times greater than topical application. The sensation is a mild warmth and gentle vibration.
Sustained acoustic energy in targeted areas stimulates fibroblast activity — triggering collagen and elastin production in the dermis. This is where the lifting and firming response originates. The effect builds over the days and weeks following treatment as the new matrix is synthesised.
Acoustic streaming activates local microcirculation and lymphatic flow — clearing metabolic waste and reducing any retained fluid in the tissue. This is what produces the immediate clarity, lift, and de-puffing visible even on the day of treatment. Skin leaves looking fed, not just treated.
Current & emerging
applications.
The clinical application of non-thermal ultrasound is expanding. These are the protocols in active use at Roses & More — and those we are watching as the evidence base develops.
Fibroblast stimulation and acoustic streaming produce visible lifting, firming, and luminosity — suitable for all skin types, including those who cannot tolerate heat-based lifting treatments.
Cavitation channels drive serums, ampoules, and actives to the dermis — up to 10× deeper than surface application. Used in every SonNext session to maximise the benefit of what is applied.
Non-thermal and non-invasive — suitable for reactive, sensitised, and post-procedure skin that cannot tolerate other technology-based treatments. Often used as a gentle alternative or recovery step.
Acoustic streaming activates lymphatic flow without manual manipulation — ideal as a complement to MLD sessions or as a standalone drainage step within a facial protocol.
Ultrasound applied to body areas supports microcirculation, addresses fluid retention, and complements other body wellness treatments. Used in combination with Parafango and MLD protocols.
Early clinical evidence suggests non-thermal ultrasound may support comfort and recovery in specific musculoskeletal and skin-healing contexts. We are tracking the emerging protocols and will introduce them as the evidence base matures.
Ultrasound is woven
through our treatment menu.
Rather than existing as a standalone offering, SonNext is used as a component within composed protocols — amplifying what other technologies and actives achieve.
We chose SonNext.
Not because of the brand.
Because of the science.
Roses & More does not carry technology for marketing reasons, and we do not recommend treatments based on what is trending. Every device in our studio was selected after independent evaluation of its clinical mechanism, safety profile, and consistency of delivery — assessed against our own standards for what we would use on our own skin.
SonNext was chosen because non-thermal ultrasound has a well-established evidence base, because the SonNext platform delivers that energy with clinical consistency, and because its software receives ongoing protocol updates as the science develops. We will continue to evaluate, and we will switch if something better comes along. That is what brand-agnostic means in practice.
